In a new initiative, I've made a goal of making daily improvements to the website. Most of these will be trivial and might be overlooked by you guys so I'm going to point them out to you.
Well, my new initiative lasted a full 2 days
Time to catch up. Yesterday I updated the "Upcoming Events" module on the home page with a new clock icon and made the text a little bit more readable.
Today I brightened the colors just slightly on the Tech Two style. Probably not noticeable unless you saw the side by side comparison.
I updated the default 'Members Article' newspaper image so it blends in better with the background.
I upgraded the 'thanks' feature today and removed the double thanks entry from the left of the posts plus framed it much better. Looks a lot cleaner. As a reminder of the 'Power of Thanks', I've posted an update with all the details in the announcements forum.

As the more observant of you have no doubt noticed, the image that you select or upload for your member article does not always get displayed on the home page. Member articles are randomly chosen for display at the top-center of the home page. For example...
Today I decided to fix it! I went to the vendor site and found one reference to a similar problem but no solution. I went to several other related websites but found no solution

A frog hopped out of the pond one day. He paused for a minute making frog noises and then continued to hop along. It was dark out. Nobody really cared about this frog and it wouldn't have matter anyway, because he was only a frog, and frogs don't get sad when no one cares about them. Sadness is an emotion and there must be certain brain structures present before emotions can be experienced. The frog just hopped along.
He was a young from, perhaps a month or two old. He had an awareness of sorts. An awareness of his environment, but he couldn't really think about things. He couldn't plan what he might want to do the next day, or who he might want to play with. Of course, frogs don't play

There once was a man of low ambition who worked at a gas station off of a long lonely stretch of highway. He worked at that gas station every day for most of his life, just as his father did. He never wanted to do anything else because this was all he ever knew. Every day he just did his job, filling the gas tanks of the few cars that came his way. Day after day after day. He never wondered what lay beyond the horizon.
One day a package arrived. The man opened the package to find some stickers. The stickers were warnings about the dangers of filling your gas while talking on the cell phone. The man didn't understand this because he couldn't read very well but he knew what to do. The man

I've been spending hour after hour trying to get the latest vbulletin upgrade ready, plus working on a procedure that will make it go by much smoother and quickly in the future. I've updated the test forum several times as kind of a dry run before I upgrade the production forum. I've got the procedure down so I can modify all the templates in the test forum and then transfer them to the production forum once I know everything is working. This should minimize the forum downtime to about 30 minutes rather than a full day. However, there is a problem with one of the templates that I just can't seem to solve. The prefix feature is causing all sorts of headaches. It requires manual edits to abou

Ok, so the library thing isn't quit ready yet. I got all the articles updated and the images placed in the right location and a bunch of other stuff. I did put in 12 hours or so of focus but then I started working on the library header. I needed a logo or heading for the library and wanted to use reflecting font cause it looks really cool. But I needed to make a similar kind of reflecting logo on the ToeQuest homepage and all the other pages. So anyway, I had to read up on making reflecting type and I finally got it right but the background needed a gradient. And the menu. I needed to update the menu so I worked on the menu but I had to update my menu software since the vendor just releas

Today is my Day of Focus. I have placed a bunch of power bars in my office to eat while working and have told my family not to disturb me for the next 12 hours. I considered wearing an adult diaper so I could avoid going to the toilet but that was probably going a bit too far . I have closed my office door so I can focus on a single area of the website so I can bring it to completion and 'find closure'. Usually, my approach to website enhancement is to do a little here and a little there with no significant progress being made in any one area. Today is different...
Today the target of my focus is the Research Library. I have previously updated the library to the most recent releas

This is the final episode of "Where's Robert". My project was completed about 4 weeks ago, I still have my day job, and I'm working normal hours again. My obscene hours are now spent on the website where I was up until 4:30am last night adding new stuff. I just started my new project on my day job but it should be another few months before I'm in a state of full panic and working 24/7. Until then, I'm anticipating making much progress on the website.
