Copernicus showed how apparent motion in the heavens indicates actual motion of the earth. In this blog, I present a postulate that apparent motion in quantum phenomena (light, electrons and quarks) indicates actual motion of the universe we live in.

Seeds

Each individual genus germinates
in its own way. Some set down roots inspired
by little more than light.

But most, with thicker skins, require coaxing--
sequoia-like, they do not sprout until
they pass through raging fire.

Some like the mango, drift on open seas
for days, or months or years, while yearning for
a quiet shore to rest.

Some lie inert for eons as they wait
for stones and teeth and time to scarify
and let the moisture in.

Still others do not feel their genius stir
until they pass as berry seed down through
the entrails of a beast;

As violet seed, through winters icy fist;
or cactus seed, through months of arid heat
and violent vernal storms.

However they awake, adversity
awakens them. Nurtured by disaster
each kind drops seed of its own.
