I also agree with what you say. "belief" AKA faith is a very acceptable idea that has made a very worth while contribution to society for many centuries. As a young boy (age 10), I began doing research on "why" there were so many different beliefs/fates throughout the world. I came to the conclusion that it's best for each individual to establish their own personal guidelines for how to conduct themselves through lifes journey. My personal quest for truth eventually led me to the sciences in hopes of finding the answers to some very complex subjects.
I must admit that I'm not completly satisfied with my results, since the answers conflict with many things that I learned as a young boy. Put another way, in some cases, the old saying "ignorance is bliss" proved to be valid. At least in my case.
INHO, although I'm convienced that free will is just a great idea, I would never try to convert anyone to my way of thinking. I have stated a number of times at various forums that "one sould be careful what they look for, they just might find it". Anyway, I have alot of spare time these days and enjoy meeting interesting people on the internet. Although I have successfully completed all of my personal objectives in finding the answers I "thought" I was looking for, I don't have any desire to publish this stuff. I don't wish to be the bearer of bad news.
P.S. We lived in Portsmouth Va. until my father passed in 1940. Then we moved back to Savannah Ga. my mothers home.
