I don't think that the community to which you are referring are completely self-serving. After all, in the final analysis, they are invariably getting some government's money to conduct their research, and their research benefits humanity in a number of ways. This fact actually makes them civil servants. Over the whole, then, they serve you and I.
I am by nature a practical thinker, and one of a type that you are least likely to find channeled into a non arts & sciences course of study. If you find a contradiction of this betwixt my TOE parts one and six, that is understandable. All I can say is that in many ways truth is indeed stranger than fiction, but the principles that I describe are always tied to logic and/or to established scientific principles, and truth is never illogical. The pursuit of the Theory of Everything is in every sense a pursuit of the truth.
As to what my TOE is, it is an attempt to arrive at an explanation for the fundamental nature of reality. Hell, it
is an Explanation of the Fundamental Nature of Reality. So it is actually the EFNR, or efner. Yes, that is what it is, no, wait, the EFNOR, yes, and it is the integral basis for further studies into defining the TOE. Ahah!
