Cosmologically, the expansion is an evolving or growing reality in the the Newtonian deterministic sense. Thermodynamically, the expansion makes no sense since zero temperature and maximum entropy both mean death for the universe. So if the universe is a sentient being why would it move toward death and dying? But in chaotic systems, there is no memory of any prior state probability, its process direction is independent, random, and it can go anywhere.

Although teleconferencing is quite possible and often used by corporate meetings, real fun connection can be enjoyable if and only if there is one listener and one talker. An idealized situation would be million of listeners and only one talker as when a head of state is making a speech. But many do choose not to listen or listen with a tint of prejudgment.
