Marko, all great questions, but political, economic and social reality must intervene. Even if we can do all the stuff you talk about, they will be turned into power centralizing or money making ventures. Unfortunately, there will always be people who make religions out of philosophy, ecology, math, science. My definition of religion is where beliefs are defended which have no basis in reality (in otherwords a closed system). I think this happens because people don't want to apply critical analysis to stuff (like media, but don't get me started!). I think a lot can be done with genetics (wasn't the Third Reicht working on this?) but once again, it will be put to nefarious uses and not used to benefit womankind. I don't know about hibernation of people but see previous answers. I think it is unlikely that we can avoid further wars, because the current political, economic and social reality dictate that they exist. They are the best way to co-op resources and expropriate capital. This continues to happen, despite valiant attempts to derail it. The machinery is very well-oiled now. What restores my faith is that the opposition to war is also becoming more sophisticated and wider spread. I think that as long as the current governing economic and social structures continue to be accepted, further wars will take place. The first is only interesting if it is the beginning of something. The first is not interesting if it is the only - Djanet Sears |
