Cool microbes... - 03-14-2006, 09:58 PM

as was I when during my backpacking in SE Asia, I just decided that chloroquine and paludrine made me sicker than the actual disease would (and I am usually a magnet for mosquitos). I had talked to a few people who had malaria and decided this to be the wiser course. I was fine. But back to DDT. I understand that these toxins are very hard to eliminate. (when I was in Vietnam, I heard and saw babies STILL being born affected by Agent Orange). Remember Thalidimyde (sp?)-it is still being used in S. America. I don't trust chemical companies to conduct proper analysis (or to be forthright about any questionable findings). I try only to eat organic food, I worry about GM'd produce.
To a certain extent, we need to allow microbes in our world (circle of life, etc.). If my pet theory is correct and we lifeforms only exist to host viruses, it would explain why, when we try to eliminate them, we end up eliminating ourselves.
