Well it does happen. Though earth is not round. Moon orbits around it. Yes, I know it is centripetal force. But this spontaneous symmetry breaking is because there is a force acting on one side. The ball cannot be stable as always there is an imbalance in the force. But what's it got to do with thermodynamics being wrong.
