David;
I am very aware of the difficulty to separate measurement from entity, units of measurement from reality or true existence. When I look at the uncertainty principle, I see the same duality of measurement and entity. Fundamental waves, the propabilties of existence, IMHO constitute the only true reality and observation (most fundamentally the determination of momentum or location, spin, charge...) measure aspects or attributes of this energy/matter wave, therefore turning observation into an imposter of existence, the particle.
How to separate observation or measurement from true reality/ fundamental entity has been the topic of many discussions.

However, if we continue down the microscope past the uncertainty principle and apply reason to measurement, we must interprete our findings logically. What I understand from reading your writings, the term matter, the way you use, is nothing more than the most fundamental entity, unmeasured, undetermined, undefined raw material, umbiquous in its makeup.
If we continue to define the fundamental entity as matter, then we never resolve the final question of what matter really is?

Every action needs some form of energy. Energy was never created, energy just is. As this cycle of reality began, as space, time and stuff was set in motion, there was nothing tangible at the beginning. There was a field, oscillating in its values, a field stable, but still jittery with quantum flactuation as all things are. Randum flactuations of this field happen to jump the field on a value that caused the sudden release of stored energy in a tremdous burst of inflation (the creation of near flat space). As continued quantum flactuation of the same field settled back on more propable values (non 0 minimums), the field stopped inflating space and dumped its energy into the cosmos with the creation of matter. And this is my explanation of the intimate connection of all fundamental particles with the underlying field that created them.
