Guille, this subject interests you, and I believe that someday you will have the experience of "astral projection". However, on a personal note, I would like to point out that your skepticism is an obstacle and this can influence you subconsciously. You must first open your mind and accept the possibility that you are a spirit inhabiting a corporeal form and that you can experience the realization of that while this form is still alive.

The out of body experience is exceptional and rare. It does not happen everytime you dream, for the images of your dreams are merely abstract visualizations occuring in your occipital lobe as rationalized reconstructions of some previous experience - physical, emotional, or mental, that are connected to your memories, and while many people claim that they do not remember their dreams, everybody has them and almost everybody can recall vivid dreams when they awake. The articulation, or sense that one's dreams have, are a function of the satisfaction that one derives in general from one's life and from the constructive application of one's self in one's day to day doings. As one matures, one's dreams begin to make more sense. Let me qualify that by saying that one's dreams should begin to make more sense as one matures.

Much research has been done on dreams, and you will find that books have been written about the out of body experience as well, and these experiences are not exclusively limited to near-death experiences although they are related.

It is an interesting subject and worthy of some attention if you have the time this summer. I can tell that you have a serious interest in it by your somewhat stubborn refusal to accept the possibility. A freudian thing, you know.

Incidentally, I have read that the greatest portion of our mass is bacterial. When you include the mass of all the water that is also a part of us what do we have left if not energy?
