How to say 'Thanks' - 07-18-2006, 12:14 AM

A problem with forums can be posts that say thanks to other member's posts. Usually these are sincere, but may be insincere with an underlying motive of boosting one's post count. In either case, a thread becomes less readable and less usefull when there are many posts that say thanks without adding content. Forum moderators will usually remove these posts to make the thread more readable. But how is a member to publically thank another member for a well written post. And how is a member to know how many other members like their posts. You have the option to add to the posters reputation along with an anonymous comment, but there are restrictions on how often you can do this.

Now there is an alternative. On the bottom of each post is a Thanks button that you can click to display a short thanks message below the post for all to see. Statistics are maintained for how many thanks each member gets for each post and a total for all posts and is shown in each posts header and the members profile. I'll add a feature to display the most thanked members very soon. Hope ya'll like it!
