I can recomend you divulgative string theory books.

The best one I have read, is "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene (a string theorist) which explains ypou from top to bottom: quantum theory and relativity, to the stages of string theory: strings, membranes, squashed dimensions.... it is a very good book to get introduced in String theory.
