| Re: What is spirit, can we become mindful of it. To nature and the dust we come from, spirit is meaningless and evolution appears to point out that consciousness, spirit, intent, meaning are interpretations of the environment we come from and live in.
Look around and find total harmony among animals and plants (because the are not pre-occupied with a meaningless search for meaning when there is none). I am trying to tell you that our intelligence, born out of our greed, need and desire to hunt better and easier, caused the recognition of our distinction (as we surveyed herds of animals and deviced ways through corporation to kill more efficiently). We still strive to be more sucessfull than the next person, a drive intstilled by evolution that produces more hunters than resources in a perverted game of adaptation and survival of the most ingenuous. Religion was invented as we recognized our mortality and a pie in the sky (heaven) was baked to keep the ape giving his best, serving his group (as intelligence now told him that death sucks and happens anyway)
Therefore I proclaim that spirit is the hunters recognition of death as he takes life in the pursuit of life and can not escape the inevidable terminus of his existence as confined within his skull.
The cosmos exists with or without you and cares little for you, your prayer, your thoughts, your spirit or your interpretation of reality. The you, distinct and autonom in thinking is an unfortunate byproduct of evolution
