In real terms we live out (experience) our karmas in our mind. Whatever category of life we are placed in or the types of lives we go/live through, it is the mind which, actually experiences the effects of that life. The cycle of life & death; accumulation of karmas& their exhaustion is not merely a retribution act of nature, as neither god nor the nature is revengeful. The purpose of this cycle is to lead the soul towards purification and perfection. Though soul is not effected by karmas of the body it is incased in, but the vasanas (effects of negative tendencies) super-imposed on it (soul) have to be removed by living out/exhausting their effects. the soul is placed in such circumstances where it not only lives out/removes its veil of vasanas but develops necessary repentance which leads its sheath (super-imposed subtle-body) towards compassion love which are necessary tools towards its libration from gross manifestation syndrome. A commits a murder, gets death sentence. His termination of physical life is not enough. Development of genuine feeling of repentance in him is most essential, otherwise his conscience remains tainted with criminal tendency. What a better way than to put his soul (subtle-body) through such a life wherein it is made to live a life which teaches hatred towards crime& love& compassion for all. it is the law of karma as the ls. understands. with love&regards.ls.
