Light travels at all possible rates it wants to but it never travels, in any direction, faster than 1/0 or slower than 0, and we only happen to see the light that is travelling at one particular speed - c. That is because we are in a certain "density" or "bandwidth" of perception which our particular unified consciousness is in resonance with. All densities of time are directly superimposed on top of eachother and all exists in the same universe, but we only perceive a certain aspect which is those photons consciously travelling at one particular rate - c.

Those photons travelling faster than c are the tachyons you mention and they are invisible to us right now. I guess you would call the photons travelling at less than c sub-tachyons. Either way, it's all light travelling at diferent speeds, but it can't travel faster than 1/0 or less than 0 and we only perceive the light that travels at the speed c because that is the perception our consciousness is in resonance with.

As for the big bang, it helps to understand that if you also understand the predestined reversal of time. Right now the perceived distance between a photon in our galaxy and a photon in a distant galaxy is increasing greater than the speed of light and as such those photons are loosing "sight" of eachother. This doesn't violate relativity because it is in no particular inertial reference frame - or rather, it is in ALL particular inertial reference frames at once since it is due to the perceived stretching of time and energy itself rather than the relative motion of objects. What this means is that as the universe keeps "expanding" faster and faster there will come a point in the future when two photons seperated by slightly less than a planck distance begin "expanding" away from eachother at greater than the speed of light. When this happens energy and time will completely tear as it undergoes reversal and begins moving backwards now.

This backwards reversal of time and energy will take place in the future, but in the negative universe it has already happened! The only thing that's taken place in the positive universe so far is the forward reversal. Aha! So that's what the big bang was - the forward reversal of time and energy. Does that help you understand? It's all tied to the flow of energy and the diametric symmetry of one thing divided by nothing - the non-cancelling interplay of yin and yang. It's all tied to the consistence of contradiction and things like the (in/)completeness theorem and the axiom of choice.
