This is not an excuse, but there was an accepted policy for years to Let Nature take it's course. i.e.for small weather anomalies, disasters smaller than Katrina, perhaps until we had to be educated as to what a tsunami was. The newsmedia graciously knew that the average American was not aware of the science involved and had to be brought up to date. I miss that feeling that impending doom was long into the future and to just go outside and play in the sun and the green grass and let the mosquitoes feed to their hearts delight. I'm waxing nostalgic. Later.
