Kombucha tea can be brewed by Humans at home, at work, and in industry. It is a vitamin drink made famous by Dr. Kombu in China who was using it to treat the Emporer in Ancient Times. It's a fundemental life-form of bacteria, a common form related to higher species of mushroom. I think one of the best aspects of the Tea is that it is such a beneficial producer that it could be used in mass scale.
The difference between current biotechnology, and kombucha tea is that kombucha tea has been around for 3000 years, it was hugely popular in Russia because it is brewed like alcohol and it was reported the Villages that drank the most Kombucha also never got drunk or suffered ill health because of their self-produced intoxication.
