It has been suggested by some who are familiar with physical mediumship,that the ectoplasm is from the mediums own life-force,a vital-fluid that exudes from the orfices,
and that there is certain alchemical process, a process of supernormal chemistry!

If that is so,then it might suggest that this substance (ectoplasm) in not directly connected
to the etheric field.Indirectly no doubt,nevertheless this is a substance that seems to normally exist in a different dimension than this dense physical plane,and when conditions
are suitable will "leak" into this dimension via the orfices of the medium.
