Paranormal - 12-08-2004, 10:25 PM

Although I'm involved in the paranormal, I find it difficult to advance an argument that hasn't been covered by those of religions and subsequently scoffed at by those of the sciences. I'm being general of course, writing from the premise that the scientific pov is that the paranormal is part superstition, and partly the mysterious workings of the brain, so that we may say the paranormal is all to do with the brain. Well of course, in the first part, what else is there but the brain?

As an expert in the paranormal, I will say that there are many experiences to be had there. My own sceptical self has had experiences that were real. But of course any fool can tell you that. Experiences of the paranormal or otherwise, I think, are the business of the person who experienced them. For me, paranormal experience is as much use as 'usual' experiences, whatever use they may be. Experiences encourage us or discourage us in one direction or another.

There is an opinon that it would nice to incorporate superstition into the sciences by means of scientific understanding - that is, by the sciences ironing out the origin of superstitions. IE, by explaining the foundations of superstition. Here I will not mention religions, Names and other such controversies. The incorporation idea sounds nice, I'll agree. The ideas of the newage also sound nice, which is believed to offer people some sort of release from the stresses of today's world.

The hope of 'unification' and incorporation has in the history of humanity been thought a solution to many ailments. Well, in the lulls between between them hacking each other to pieces, physically or verbally at least. So is 'today' different from 'yesterday' when 'they' were barbarians who lacked your kind of advanced reasoning?

Mysticism, my speciality, my life. It has always been with us even when great civilizations have fallen. So what is mysticism? Cut away the crap and it's much like science except that it does not deny anything.

How can one deny anything when there is a rule that applies to everything? 'The Grail?' It's not over until the fat lady sings. And hark I hear no melody, but only dispirit and diverse mumblings, many hopes and the adding and subtracting of numbers.
