Of course we believe in the bending of light ray, but we could explain it in other understandable way such as the bending of light ray passing through the earth atmosphere. It is not the atmosphere that is curved; instead it is due to the non-uniform density of air of the atmosphere!
Based on the concept that there is “something” in space, something called vacuum medium (introduced in the first post) which is analogous to the familiar aether. Then it is easy to understand how space-time is curved, in the same way as how the atmosphere is curved. So this is the more rational explanation of curved space-time, isn’t it?
