But if you name it anything, then it must exist long enough to perceive it, and it also must have identifiable (repetitive) characteristics such that you recognize it when you perceive it again.
Facts are typically shared ideas where all parties agree not to disagree. If there's still disagreement, then it ain't a fact. Further, if the terms are not synonyms for each other, then they are not the same and not interchangeable. Each would apply to something different.
Given the differences, then the issue becomes: "Are they truly different? Or are they different aspects of the same thing?" For instance, energy and matter seem different, but Einstein's famous equation (E=mcc) showed that they were two aspects of the same thing. Also, recall the fable of the "Elephant and the 6 Blind Men" to see another variation of differences which are intertwined and part of a more complex system.
