In my vocabulary that sentence could be restated as
"there had been adequate working mythologies for the toe long long ago..."
now the challenge is to come up with a more up-to-date version which is not derided by half the population. I suppose it is difficult simply because there are so many living today and in so many ways different from each other.
Tolerance for each other's working mythology is difficult. Everybody likes to believe his own myth as the "true" one. Somehow that seems to be part of an effective myth unless it is kept really alive by art or some movement.
I think what we are talking about here is an artistic enterprise.
Then I could go on about how fragmented art seems to be nowdays for this kind of thing. |
