Let me tell you why I agree with you...
Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke each and independently stated that if and when 'a computer' was programmed with enough data, it would automatically become self aware...
Well. The universe contains all of the data that there is to contain. Therefore, in accordance with Asimov and Clarke, the Universe is (inevitably, spontaneously) self aware.
