I found truth in this sentence you wrote: "To have one theory of everything the universe must be composed of just one thing".

Nice, that one thing is all the things that makes up and unites the universe. We have a choice in thought, to see all things as different parts of the universe or all things as one. The truth is one. Our goal of TOE is unity or oneness of the universe. The choice is yours. The solution is only a change of thought, TOE is you.
