I'm not addressing consciousness, instead some properties of its state including binding. For example, the ability of distant regions of the brain to connect with themselves. There was a study in the late 80s that talked about how the hippocampus stores memories of areas of the cortex that should be activated when those memories are recalled. I'm addressing parts of this issue.
