The Sound of Gravity & the 4th D - 08-03-2007, 09:21 PM

In the commonplace activity of spinning coins, please take note of another ('familiar') occurrence that goes along with the mundane preoccupation...

As the spinning coin settles down on a hard surface, as it's slowing to stop, it takes up a quickening vibration (This is better - and more dramatically - done with spinning a common (inexpensive?) dinner plate on it's axis, on a linoleum or wooden floor)...

What you are listening to there as the coin or plate settles down to a sudden stop, is the acceleration of the sound of the coin or plate as it surrenders to gravity ('is acceleration' - Einstein)...

That (everyday experience) is the (accelerating) sound of gravity - you know, the dynamic that is considered unidentifiable... Well, in watching the coin or plate settle down you are seeing the effects of gravity, and in hearing the settling you are hearing the gravity, acting on that coin or plate... As it moves in what is under these circumstances, and inwardly directed spiral...

Since one of the titles of my work is 'gravity is the 4th dimension', you are likewise audio-visually witnessing that - the ('unimaginable') 4th dimension - also.
The spin we're in.

(George Berkeley, 1710) ... lay the beginning in a distinct explication of what is meant by thing, reality, existence: for in vain shall we dispute concerning the real existence of things, or pretend to any knowledge thereof, so long as we have not fixed the meaning of those words.

"All things come out of the one and the one out of all things." - Heraclitus
"Reality is an illusion - albeit a persistent one." - Einstein
"Particles give me a headache." - Ibid
