As the human sphenoid topples over, the human brain is getting larger and larger.

Evolution happens by leaps.
When a leap happened for example in Europe, it happened at the same moment for example in Asia.

Does evolution always happens as an adaptation to the environnement? Or can a mutation just happen within?
