Hi MJA;

C2 is light going out omnidirectional.
When mass is converted to energy it goes out in all directions at the speed of light.

The variable in E=mc2 is the mass. More mass, more energy, a larger area of energy.

So once again I view c to be the radius and c2 to be the area affected by the massive dispersion.

Otherwise I'm with you and don't have the slightest idea.
Maybe Lloyd could help you here.
