Hawking radiation has never been observed, mainly because the black holes we have "observed" are devouring hot gas, or stars, and so the Hawking radiation is clouded by this other radiation. Hawking radiation given off by a black hole is proportional to 1/M, where M is the mass of the black hole. Note that this should really be the mass-energy of the black hole, and so the sort of situation proposed above will not be an issue. |
