So I would question the ambiguity of the evolution of man as possibly having an encounter with a superior entity at some point in time.
Julian Jaynes in his book gives several examples of how consciosuness evolved to the realtive state that is today in his book mentioned before. The correlations as he presents them are definitely worth consideration in lew of the stereotyped images and accounts we have up until now, at least they could be
an addendum not necessarily negating what has been uncovered anthropologically.
