Jak, I say 2-D because thats a 2d drawing that is only partially representing the 3-D drawings at top of the page. Keep in mind, that, that there is no such thing in reality( physical universe ) as a true circle or sphere i..e. there are only hvarious frequencies of polygons and polyhedra.
I say generalized, because, it is gross simplification --and static-- overview of our physical universe as generalized --again-- by the graphics at top of page i.e. the 8 Icosahedra overlapping as a stabilization of an internal tetrahedron. [ I propose that this symbol of two interlocking circles is the proper definition of the "feared" number, 1/0, which I also claim this number/symbol is the meaning and perfect definition of the unified field. It represents that which throughout the whole of space and time is not divided, the coming together of positive and negative infinity, the merging of qm and gr, and the crux of wave particle duality. Also it represents the end of time when the laws of thermodynamics will suddenly reverse as a result of a big ripping of space/time. This is amazing you seemed also to have discovered the significance of this symbol. Am I right? Please tell me more.]
I wrote an essay once titled "its all binary", however, I don't recall using that specific symbol i.e. I saw the physical as having a fundamental on-off, active-passive, flowing-not flowing, contractive-expansive, falling-in/falling-out. This seems crazy everyone! Forgive me if I'm excited, but this may be a sign! And have you noticed Rybot that this symbol is seemingly the most repeated sign in advertising? Could it be because of the subconsious? Examples include mastercard, Kool cigarettes, Double tree hotels, etc. etc.
Hey you've even got them intersecting at apparently the right angle. Is the intersection supposed to be 1/4th of the circle?

Ever heard of a Joe Cell? Actually it was invented by Peter Stevens but it's called the Joe Cell. Some pretty freaky stuff man. It uses the shape power of concentric rings

Great please share any links. Fullers main polyhedral point, was that all things of universed are geomathmatical derivatives of the three, and only three, primary regular/symmetrical and stable polyhedra of universe;
