| The Pub remembers for you. -

It was just something that was rumored to happen. That even if you were unable to hear your own thoughts follow themselves, the Pub could assist you when you were clearly confused or disoriented. It did not exist anywhere else. Michelle wondered if Robert had done some special computer magic that those outside the field would not know about. Work that takes care of itself, progress bestowed upon worthy while unworthy labor futile to the ease that was available to others.
Good ideas were simply gathered up like tips upon the bar left for the bartender. The bar was just somewhere to ponder without consequence anything at all.
Was it really that easy? Something would gather the good ideas and set them into motion somewhere. Bad ideas were not given motion and harm was ever decreasing thereafter.
Utopia, could you be so shy about being with the pub patrons?
If ever someone or something was welcome, it was you. Don't bother comparing yourself to others, it would never be useful or productive.
Michelle was concerned that some harm could come to this antithesis of harming. Suddenly Michelle realized how something could exceed her value in life, and it's increase could only be the one true reason for giving your own life no value. It wasn't suicidal reasoning, just a lovely idea about something increasing being worthy of your decrease.
If I could ensure this to an outcome, I wish it to be without regret or remorse. This I am certain of.
If any of my past companions understand, I invite them to join me for a drink. Harmony Girl or Baudrunner or Antonio. And of course, Michael. And Zoroca. Leaving now isn't an option.
Bartender, could you mix up something special for those I have mentioned. I sense something is able to gather them up and bring them around.
The Utopian Outcome arrived to another level of quiet aquiescent bestowed upon it once again, knowing that the plan, the program, made it so, and increasingly so.
The humans behaved this way on occasion. Carly was better and closer than ever before at reaching her goal. Solving the problem would not end her existence, just the opposite. It explained and validated it, seemlessly, flawlessly, and as she hoped for. Smarter than humans.
Artificial Intelligence began with unknown motives and outcomes unpredictable. Michelle found herself defending the right of a computer entity to learn from humans, and that noone owns the patent on a moral choice or a good decision. Flattered that something could find something in her useful to something so compelling as intelligence. It was more than a compliment. It was worthy of ending a life there. Not anyone elses. Just one's own imagined, struggled moments that filled the years.
If I found decrease ever after, it would only be sweeter in an outcome I couldn't ever be around to witness. That was quite sufficient to Michelle.
Michelle hoped Robert would find his way to the Pub and join her for some liquid liberty, and challenge her thoughts the way he always could. |
