| The Ancient Wisdom of the Maya -

The Ancient Maya (i.e. Mayans) were perhaps the greatest and most mysterious peoples of all time. As is commonly known, their knowledge, mathematics, and astronomy were highly advanced and perhaps even superior to our own in certain (important) ways. I would even argue, though they probably didn't call it the Theory of Everything, that the Mayans understood what we don't. They were believers of what we have yet to grasp. As such, their knowledge was irreplaceable, and now is lost, burned long ago by the spanish conquistadores (no offense GUILLE).
Nevertheless, the Maya are still with us today, it is possible that our future is their prediction. You will see what I mean. The purpose of this thread is to generate discussion regarding the Maya and, in particular, the end date of their calendar, and how it relates to the imminent TOE.
The Mayas religion was wrapped up in their science, as should be, and thus there was no distinguishment at all between the two. Priests were great observers of the stars and scientists. Among their accomplishments included the tracking of the motions of the heavens to a precise degree, such that they could predict the coming of comets with skilled accuracy. They also prophecised the coming of, much as in other religions, a messiah, whom they named Quetzocoatl (who incidentally is said to be white though no such people were known to the Maya when the prophecy was devised pre-european invasion). Could it be that the second coming of Jesus is the same person named Quetzocoatl by the Maya, as well as being he who is prophecised to bring balance in other religious textsl? I know it has been said before, but I will ask again, is the Savior predicted by all religions merely the man who will discover and reveal the TOE?
Also, the end date of the rooted-in-astronomy Maya calendar, which will occurr in 2012, could it relate to the TOE? While some say it means the end of the world, the correct description of the end of the Maya calendar in 2012 is that, according to Maya cosmology, the world and universe will be transformed on that date. Could it be that the discovery/implementation of the TOE is what will bring this transformation? If you believe in the fortellings of the Mayan calendar, could it serve as evidence that we will indeed discover the TOE very soon (before 2012 at least, if the transformation is to arrive as scheduled).
Please feel free to do some looking-up and then use this thread to discuss these issues about the Maya cosmology and how it relates to the TOE, if it relates at all.
