THat about sums it up. Everyday its another problem! Today for instance I've got problems with the elementary forces of nature. OK, like the Electromagnetic, the weak, the strong, and Gravity. Somehow, I got it into my head that these forces work by exchanging a force particle. So stuff that does an electromagnetic force like say, electrons....well, they pass a photon back and forth as a force particle to retain their negative electrical force. What do they exchange the photon with.....hmmmm...could it be the positive counterpart...I have no info on that. Then there's the strong force and its force carrier, the glouon....I think this force particle is passed back and forth between the Quarks that make up the tingys in an atom's nucleus. I forgot what the weak force's force carrier particle is, and I don't know what its passed back and forth with, but I know there is something called spin or color and maybe it bounces back and forth between different types of that somehow. Then their is the graviton which is the force carrier particle for gravity. What it bounces back and forth between is anybody's guess. (Please excuse me if I am being a little unprofessional here; I'm just a down home back woods quantum physicist fan). So yeah....force carrier particles. THey are what make the 4 forces of the universe. That's what we are trying to unify here in our Unified force theory of everything....this shouldn't be too terribly hard. But here's my problem. At the quantum level, they can't tell if little particles are mass or waves. Then I think, whats waves? Then I think,
is waves energy, and is energy the same thing as force....like the force that the force carrier particles make? So thats my enigma of the day. What is the relationship between the 4 elementary forces, and the waves that are the particles of Quantum mechanics? Like are they both classified as "energy"? And if everyything is energy, where does mass come from? THe Higgs Boson?
I don't know too many things. I need help. As the driver said in "Talledega Nights" Help me God, Help me Jesus, Help Me Jewish God, Help me Ophrah Winifrey! |
