Cosmic evolution perhaps. The universe's attempt to either slow or speed up entropy. It happened because past conditions allowed it to happen

The photon is a measurement, a description of the wave and is not real, it is not an entity like a cernel flying around in space.

Why ask this question. Does your skin cell ask you why it is here (maybe cancer cells develop conscousness and therefore breed unchecked, lol sounds like somebody you know?) We all are the universe and we exist as matter, conscious or not. You are here, period Why are you here? The universe evolved by chance to produce observes and these observers are now trying to find their place in a sea of infinite possibilites and proclaim their reality to be a result of intelligent design, special evolution with the observer's existence in mind.
