What will we do with the calender when we establish settlements on Mars? On the Moon? If it is complicated to communicate the time of day to a Japanese person now, what will it be like to ask someone on Earth when is your next birtday? Does this mean we are headed for a base ten calender? If the standard of living continues to improve, if we achieve some sort of sustainable peace, will anybody care if nobody knows what time they are supposed to wake up?
P.S. I would be much interested in asking whether or not we are ready for a system of calender of a base ten system, whereby there would be no set times of daily routine, but time would nonetheless be more accurate. There are other advantages which require a bit of pioneering pondering put plainfully, presentfully, and publically. |
