Hello Leskey,

I think music, and art in general, mimics reality in the sense that reality seems to be based on essential order, seems to be a hierarchy of variations on themes of variation, on ultimately a most central theme of variation, a TOE or GUT or actually Logos (Heraclitus).

The nature of this central theme very probably is mathematical, but this certainly doesn't mean reality is something technical or mechanical. With this point of view reality more emerges as something alive, as a Life we are part of and are micro-reflections of and to which we better can tune in on when we have a good notion of this central order.

It's all a matter of life coming to a good understanding and harmony with Life. And of course we already all are as little tunes or melodies, part of and united with this great symfony that is unfolding itself. But we lack a bit of harmony, it could and should be more.

Yes, great film: Space Odyssey ! But I think that science in general in the past century increasingly has displayed a universe that best can be described in terms of 'music' and 'life'. It is not a matter of leaving behind all rational and technical and mechanical, the next level of understanding is seeing the bigger picture all this is part of, the view on Art in ascent.
