On the same level of thought, I guess we could say the mind is part of the body, but I like the separate classifications. So I view the dynamics of the human to have the trinity of forces, i.e. Mind, Body, and Spirit, or if you well Mental, Physical, and Emotional.

I believe aspects of the emotional, are capable of transcending the mental. In the words of Huey Lewis “ have you ever had a heartache?” The emotional appears to be an antagonist to rationality at such times.

Fear, anger, joy, bliss, love/hate, lust, are all .what I would call emotional. ( laughter, tears )

When I taught at California State University I would discuss, with my female students, this situation. Suppose there is a very good looking guy, but there is this other guy, good looking but not as good looking, but he was smarter, who would you pick? After an answer I would then ask them, what if there was this third guy, good looking enough, but not as good looking as the first two; smart enough, smarter than the first, but not as smart as the second. But let us say this last one has the best spirit of the three. He has humor, compassion, is able to love and beloved in return. Now who would you pick. ( I’ll let you answer for yourself, except to say one asked who was the richest. )

Indeed the mind itself is separated into three components, the Id, Ego, and Superego; or Parent, Adult, and Child.
