Hi James, went through your hypothesis briefly. Some obervations / clarifications required:

1) You considered stars only, what happens to your scenario if we add supernovas and black holes
2) I don not think you considered the effect of distances in your multi star scenario. Some stars could be nearer to each other, some could be far..

It should allow the same considerations for Relativity to ones point of view which would include what I believe you mean by time dilations. Time and distance are intrinsically tied together by any measure of rate of movement, so they are married to each other. I don't know exactly what you mean by time and space being equal, however.
