the answer to your question is that there is

an evolutionary instinct for PHYSICAL wealth (stuff like money, which buys things we can touch etc etc)

a new capacity which arose at speciation for MENTAL wealth (knowledge)

Homo sapiens subspecies sapiens translates to 'knowing'

To be human we simply need to realise that the root of all evil at this stage in our evolutionary trajectory is the
desire for PHYSICAL wealth - anything which anchors us in the physical world - anything which we can touch like cars, the sofa, your hedge strimmer
The desire for MENTAL wealth must replace the desire for PHYSICAL wealth
because
they're not compatible - and the reason why it has been so difficult for us - is that the desire for physical wealth is an instinct
which we are trying to excise
- whereas the desire for mental wealth is not yet an instinct.
We need to quell our own legacy instincts and replace them with something better - a new instinct
- which itself will need to be lost at some point later
(but do not worry about this latter part yet - it's a 'cart before horse' logical train).
I've tried to make the idea real easy -
so don't criticise me just yet -
- you don't know enough about the idea to generate meaningful criticism
