Re: I have the TOE, now what?

Hi Pat,

You've definitely given me some food for thought. I like the correlations and ideas behind the idea doc. The Universe has beauty at all levels - that is for sure - from the symmetry in double-entry bookkeeping to the spirals in a sunflower. Accounting has definitely given a lot to humanity. Is it not, however, a conceptual tool of abstracts that aids our understanding of the Universe? If it is a conceptual tool of abstracts, would not the abstract concepts always leave details out? If so, how can it then ever be considered complete?

I believe there is a huge element of predictability in our environment that we have managed to grasp and it has lead (and will lead) to amazing discoveries like lasers, cathode-ray tubes and radio transmissions. Can we however take this predictability to the ultimate? Will further discoveries inhibit previous versions of the ToE in much the same way that Newtonian Gravity was never complete (although it is highly useful)? I personally feel the ToE must hold up under the test of time or it cannot truly be the ToE. The more complex it is, the less chance it has.

One thought I love to run through my mind - if you will join me; what if all living creatures had developed much the same but never had the sense of sight. What could we then know of our environment? Would we ever know colour exists? Would we ever know there are stars in the night sky (and would we ever think to search for them)? If you were blind how would you discover these things?

As humans, we have gone a long way to learning weird things about our environment, radiation for instance. How do we know we can know all there is about our environment and how do we know our senses aren't as limited as protozoa in the grand scheme of things? Protozoa may know more about the Universal environment than we could even realise.

You may have something in your idea of balance of positive, negative and neutral. It may also gives us a better understanding of our Universe. I guess the important thing is to keep an open mind and challenge all ideas.

Cheers! o-frap
