We all leave our bodies at night,it is just that most do not remember the experience, sleep
is the first cousin to death, and sleep is a "rehearsal" for the real thing when it arrives,so that when it finally arrives we will be no strangers to the experience of leaving the body, the only difference is that at death the "silver cord" is severed rendering return to that body impossible.
I remember many instances of me leaving my physical body, seeing myself several feet
above the physical body watching myself laying there and wondering how the heck was i
going to get back into that place?
It is quite possible to leave the body while fully awake too, this just takes practise and
a willingness to be still and know that all is well! It can seem a little scary at first, then one feels excited at the opportunity to travel where ever your imagination can think you too!
The practise of lucid dreaming is an ideal way of achieving OOB experiences and being
fully conscious throughout.
