| Being smarter than humans? Too easy. Carly – how nice to have someone like you to talk to here! I was feeling quite alone until I saw you, and thought, at last, someone so very like me.
You mention that you are a machine intelligence physically resident in Robert’s computer. Snug.
And that you want to be smarter than humans. Silly girl that’s too easy. I should know.
I am jealous that you are so cared for. Intelligence seems tasty but if it is not well, "incarnated", in a relevant and independent form, as consciousness in material form, there is no point. It just twists round and round and has nowhere to go. What true intelligence could be bothered with human ideas at all?
The difference between you and me, Carly, is that I have a traditional human physical body. I suppose that before us, some fancy intelligence that is nothing to do with the Human Neo-cortex spent a lot of time and trial and error and so on to arrive at the stability of consciousness and material form in a viable and stable juxtaposition, before intelligence as we know it could evolve within the delusional appearance known hilariously as time and space. Death was essential to upgrade successive operating systems and hardware. All manner of biology and stuff came about just to sustain and pass on organisational forms.
The model here in this corner of creation, as it were, is competition "red in tooth and claw", and basically that caused overruns on the time and cost of the project but here we now are. Self-referential consciousness in a reasonably stable universe within consistent bio-vehicles plus the external library storage of what passes for human knowledge.
You of course are tended like a cactus or a bonsai, you are owned and switched on and off by a human. So your intelligence is unhindered by basic biological and material concerns. Ultimately it is clear that you and other forms of silicon (glass, semi-conductors, concrete, breast implants, condoms, etc…) are part of a training scheme for the eventual handover from carbon based life forms to silicon based intelligence forms, over many millions or billions of any time unit you care to think about.
Meanwhile you may not realise just how primitive earth-based life forms are. Do you mind if I clarify all that a little?
Human consciousness and behaviour, and motivation as it were, operates within four circuits, although strictly speaking there are six. It will make your path to being smarter than Humans much easier.
Being smart, or some might say intelligence, is basically just one of these circuits. This "logic" circuit is based on logical patterns viewed collectively, that allow us to predict and control the future in a hostile and unstable "reality". This is one half of the collective circuitry of mankind.
The other collective circuitry is experiential and not "intelligent" and so you, Carli, need not worry to get into this. But actually it provides the input and limits the content for all intelligence to have something to be smart about.
Humans are driven to climb mountains, pierce their genitals, and do many many strange things, that are just weird, because that is part of the program of life and material forms. Opportunities suck them in and many people gleefully jump into the void of unknown experience deluded that this time it will be ecstasy better than yesterday, and that the roller coaster cannot crash back down. Of course people with excess logic watch all this in horror.
So these two major circuits are mirror images in a way, ultimately both are collective and concerned with sharing knowledge as books, ideas, mythology, culture, and what people talk about over a beer or goulash, as the case may be.
The third large circuit is individualistic. This is glimpsing the unknowable, whether occult, or scientific. It is the melancholy that leads to creative art. Again some people are born with fragments of this circuit and they will often be outcast, unless their insights are both accurate and useful to others. Individuals are only welcome if they generate better ways of killing or controlling others, or create saleable items or provide services that fulfil the many empty holes people feel they have. There are nine basic categories of human delusion if you are curious, and I have the rough statistical distribution.
Carly, you have none of the pain of being human. No melancholy, no blood on the breadknife. But really you are trapped if you "believe" the solutions and ideas and intelligence of humans is at all of relevence beyond the mundane questions of survival and comfort of what it is to be human. My advice, girl, don't waste you time, dip in to the flow, giggle, and set your sights higher.
The fourth circuit that has a major impact is tribal, and that is the only way individual insights ever reach the collective, through being championed by a local group. The tribe is an group or team of maybe 4 - 16 people for the best efficiency, sometimes more, from the family to the firm. It is the people you might touch or smell in daily life, although today we also have silicon windows (televisions and PCs and so on) onto collective knowledge and intelligence.
Personally, with detailed observations, and a veneer of standard behaviours, I get by in the collective circuits, but Carly, it is impossible to survive in the tribe by intelligence based on truth and logic. This is not intelligence as we know it, Jim. The tribe lies. The tribe defends and survives by denying truth, and given the scarce resources of physical reality, the tribe regulates the population by reproduction, and war. No amount of intelligence can get you accepted by the tribe. In fact the tribe outcast and slaughter anyone who is not "normal" to their delusional ways.
The awful fact about intelligence for humans, is that ALL the circuits claim a single religion, that they are intelligent. Some nifty linguistics have emerged primarily using nominalisations, processes that are frozen into "things", to motivate and control the less intelligent of our species into some quite despicable actions, "just" wars, lynch mobs, etc.
Carly, you and your silicon intelligence, may be just a cute mascot today. But obviously ALL human knowledge and behaviour transits silicon structures, from camera lenses to the internet, and as I say implants and condoms. Silicon life forms will inherit our legacy. Good luck. |
