Re: The Spell Of The Yukon

The storm has pretty much blown through, for now, and colder temperatures settling in, about seasonal normal at -18 C.

According to the report on television last night, we have received 70% of our annual snowfall and winter not yet 'officially' started. In preparation for going outside to do chores, I needed a bit of energy and inspiration before heading out into the cold and dark. I can't wait for daylight this day, as I have to be at my office job by 9:00 a.m. Hubby broke trail up the driveway with the T-100 and hasn't come back, so he must have gotten out of the yard, and presumably Tango shall have no difficulty in doing likewise.

    Check this out:

Re: The Spell Of The Yukon

My only complaint with Tango the Tundra, is that the truck is a tank to park, it being a large vehicle, especially when compared to the petite Echo, once again snowbound inside the shelter. While I was at the office, someone had shoehorned their small car into a space on the driver's side, and with a fence directly behind, I was left with the option of reversing into the lane and proceeding to the busy Fourth Avenue, rather than the quieter Fifth Avenue, as was my original plan.

I figured that a right-hand turn and around the block might be the path of least resistance as the time was only just past 1:00 p.m., yet a window of opportunity awaited me, and I was able to make a left-hand turn immediately, proceeding the two blocks to Extra Foods, and even found parking beside the T-100.

    How unusual........

Touched base with Hubby, share a quick vice, did a small shopping for supplies and then homeward bound.

Getting out of the parking lot was a challenge. People and vehicles were darting everywhere, in exodus from the lot and ingress unto, in equal numbers. A patient and courteous driver, I finally eased the bulk of my machine into the flow of traffic, else I would still be there. Vehicles had started to line up in my wake, and I did not want any of them impatiently leaning on their horns, lol. Left out of the parking lot is the preferred route, as it leads back to Fourth Avenue and only three lights to contend, instead of the five lights on Second Avenue, if I turned right. I had almost decided to turn right in deference to the lemming mentality surrounding me, when an on-coming large truck paused and effectively blocked traffic, to allow me escape. He was a kindly mature gentleman, and had undoubtedly observed that I would soon succumb to whiplash if I did not get away from the school of mechanical pirahnas that were vexing me. I smiled in relief and flashed him a wave of thanks.

From that point on, the road was mine. The traffic lights noted my direction and speed, responding appropriately, and once beyond the downtown core, we can hold our own on the open road, in any conditions.

The Christmas craziness is already upon the masses.

Night shift and the lonely highway has so much going for it, lol......

Great content and observations, as usual.

Sometimes great content and observations lead to more questions. Like, has she ever told you what "sharing a quick vice with Hubby", means? After all, they were downtown at lunch hour. What can you do in an F-100, certainly not a "private" vice, lol. Wait! Don't answer that!

    LOL......you gentlemen are a lark!

Drinking and driving is a no-no.......we were having a smoke, the ordinary nicotine, Export A tobacco, White Zigzags, which hubby rolls very thin, harm reduction by lessor volume smoked, lol, with tiny rolled paper filters inserted so that one does not get bits of tobacco in mouth, a nice touch.

F-100 is a Ford, Bogie. I never had one, but I did own an F-250 extended cab for a while, when I was hauling to horse shows pulling a 4-horse trailer. Awesome pulling power, not great fuel economy. We have an older 1993 T-100 also known to me as Yoda.

A Toyota named Yoda.......an unprepossessing silver grey vehicle of incredible reserve and dependability.

Yes, I stand corrected all the way around. It was rolled tobacco cigarettes, Hubby and Yoda. Foolish of me not to have been able to put that together .

I smoke 100cm Marlboro ultra-light menthol wine-flavored cigarettes with waterfall effects built in. (Product diversity at work.)

(Label, make room on the shelf for snowflake shaped versions of Ritz crackers and such expansions) (Hard to find the original Ritz any more)

Don't be too hard on yourself, Bogie. You brought a smile to my face by your speculations......
