The expansion has gone beyond our ability to sense its existence. Our ability to sense its existence is the limit. Because it is already at that limit then any further expansion does not extend the finite size of the universe because we can not detect what is beyond that point. This results with a limit that is every much as impenetrable as if there was a wall there.
