Brain Neuroplastics--Workable or a lot of WhOOie

What are your thoughts about neuroplasticity? I believe. I was using it 38 years ago when my daughter was born with Cerebral Palsy. She couldn't hold up her own head or roll over until I remembered my Aunt,
caring her toddler who'd fallen out a second floor window onto his head on the cement,
literally braining himself. Doctors told her he'd remain in a vegetative state.
I remembered watching her lie down on the floor beside him and roll over, then
physically roll him over. She worked at it for a long time. Then she taught him
to sit, to crawl, to walk and eventually to talk again.
My daughter's brain damage was severe. Her IQ is under 40 but she did learn to walk and talk and has quite the vocabulary, even if she doesn't know what all the words mean. She knows how to use them and they help her make friends and interact with people. She stopped walking at 10 as her spasicity grew worse. She'd have a chance, I believe, to walk again,
but it's painful and she's non-co-operative.
She's content the way she is so who am I to argue?
Now I find, I'm having to use these same ideas on myself. I find it just doesn't work the same for me, as it did them.
When purposefully focusing on remembering, give me 3
seconds and I will forget. I've found I've had to get back to multi-tasking.
It seems to be my personal stimuli. Besides, how many
times can you burn the same thing or forget appointments or to make calls?
It's been slow, but works for me. I no longer have my
coffee table buried in paper reminders.
Any thoughts on brain plasicity.
Scientists are only just realizing that yes, they have hit on something. Yes, other areas of the brain can be taught to take over or new neurons can be regrown in damaged areas. I could save their theorizing a lot of time but I have no plans of writing about it or looking them up personally. I am kept far busier than I'd like to at my age.
I don't think my family was the only one over the years desperate enough
to keep trying things with family members because they
wanted to 'will' them to learn and have a life.
I think brain plastics have been around for a very long time.
What's your opinion. What do you think of neuroplastic brain
rewiring. Please share...your opinions are valued.
Excuse me, did I remember to ask your opinions?
