No Solid Particles

The Landscape of the Greater Universe

In Big Bang Theory (BBT) our expanding universe is “The Universe”, and in the Infinite Spongy Universe (ISU), our expanding universe is just one of an infinite number of such universes. In the ISU there have always been universes like the one discussed in BBT playing out through contraction and expansion everywhere across the greater universe.

In the following “Turtles All the Way Down” section you will begin to understand the landscape of the greater universe and the nature of the ISU where no solid particles exist. You will also see that what I have referred to as the “indestructible EEP” is an intricate complex of energy itself, and it is actually energy itself that is indestructible and infinitely fine.

In the Infinite Spongy Universe – Turtles All the Way Down

One can think long and hard about the infinity of space and matters related to the infinite and the infinitesimal. I think that given enough thought one might conclude that everything is made of energy in space and energy in space is made up of elementary energy particles (EEPs) that occupy space and that can combine to bring more and more energy to bear in a particular location where no solid particle ever actually exists.

After all, a solid particle would seem to have to be infinitely dense and inert. If so, there could be no physics since I can’t imagine how infinitely dense inert particles would interact with each other. In order to interact, EEPs must have the characteristic of “fluctuating energy density”.

EEPs with fluctuating energy density would have the ability to combine though synchronization when two adjacent EEPs could be attracted and held together by their opposite phases of fluctuation, i.e. where one expands while the other contracts thus sharing a given space into which one is drawn as the other evacuates. When EEPs are synchronized, their shared space is evacuated by the contraction phase of one EEP and becomes occupied by the expansion phase of the other EEP.

To provide this ability to combine and yet to avoid ever having a solid particle in existence, in an infinite universe there are an infinite number of levels of order (LoO). Physics repeats itself on each level of order and each level of order is separate from the others based on the size of its elemental energy particles.

The size of one EEP on any given LoO is the smallest increment of energy that can have any meaning on that LoO, and all energy that comes to bear in any location on that LoO is composed of a whole number of EEPs. An individual EEP on our level of order is a complete contracting and then expanding universe on the next lower level of order (LEEP level_, and our expanding universe on our level of order is merely a single expanding EEP on the next higher level of order (HEEP level).

Each EEP exists for only one contraction and one expansion where upon the constituents of the EEP are disbursed to take up similar roles in newly forming and contracting EEPs in adjacent space. The contraction ends before infinite density is reached. The near infinitely dense EEP bursts when its constituent lower level EEPs (LEEPs) are so compressed that they become locked, build up potential energy, and burst when that potential energy exceeds the gravitational force that causes them to contract, i.e. they achieve critical capacity.

Locked EEPs are the closest that the universe comes to a solid particle but even in the locked state the individual LEEPs within a given EEP retain their identity as contracting and expanding entities on their own lower level of order. These locked EEPs may seem to lose their identity but as soon as the burst occurs they are segmented back into their individual identities based on what is a meaningful amount of energy on their level of order. This segmentation occurs because each EEP is compose of an infinite number of still lower level EEPs (SLEEPs), each in its own process of contracting or expanding on their own levels independent of the fact that their parent EEP is caught up in some temporary locked environment with its neighboring EEPs.

Gravity is part of the physics that repeats itself on each level of order. Thus gravity causes the contraction and the failure of gravity allows the expansion. The current change in the amount of space occupied by the constituent EEPs from one instant to the next determines if gravity rules or if expansion rules, i.e. if the EEP is contracting or expanding; there is never a stand still for an EEP. Even when locked the individual EEPs are buzzing with activity at an infinite number of lower levels of order occupied by the SLEEPs.

SLEEPs allow us to avoid ever having to address the existence of a solid infinitely dense particle. All energy on any level of order is made of the EEPs of that level and there is one energy unit per EEP on that level of order. These particles are self contained pulsing perpetual motion machines on their particular level of order but they each consist of smaller particles that are temporarily trapped in a spatial relationship with other such particles within the volume of space occupied by a single EEP on any given level of order, thus avoiding the solid particle “no no”.

Each elementary energy particle contains a finite number of lower order EEPs (LEEPs) identical to themselves but smaller by one level of order. Because the constituent particles of any given EEP, its LEEPs and their constituent particles in still lower levels of order (SLEEPs) occupy descending levels of order, and because there are an infinite number of lower levels of order no matter what level you are on, it can be said that each EEP contains an infinite number of still lower order energy increments or SLEEPs.

Each SLEEP, i.e. each particle in each lower level of order is a universe in itself. The universe within each particle is a real complete individual universe in its own right just like the expanding universe that we know and love. And each will have the same fate.

The fate of every EEP regardless of the level and regardless of whether they are EEPs, or LEEPs, or SLEEPs, or even HEEPs (higher order EEPs), after they complete their single contraction they will expand and disburse and their constituent EEPs will break free from that which has united them, their shared spatial relationship in their gravitational arena, only to become part of a finite subsequent temporary spatial relationship in another shared gravitational arena defined by an accumulation of elementary energy particles that will build back up to one energy unit on the next higher level of order.

The burst will occur and the expansion begins when the critical capacity of the contracting entity is reached, i.e. when the potential energy of the locked constituents overcomes the gravity that is causing their accumulation. And the expansion and contraction, i.e. the energy density fluctuations continue to occur forever just as they have always occurred.

This EEP/SLEEP scenario is referred to as “turtles all the way down”.

The Infinite Spongy Universe is turtles all the way down and turtles all the way up. Our expanding universe is one particle and therefore one unit of energy on the next higher level of order. We are alive in that universe contained in that one expanding elementary energy particle belonging to the level of order above us. Each EEP on each level of order occupies its own patch of space or arena where its contraction and expansion plays out. All levels of order share the same infinite space and each level of order consists of an infinite number of energy units in the form of elementary energy particles of that level.

Defeating Entropy

In the last post I explained my reasoning behind choosing the cosmology that provides an origin of our expanding universe and that must include the missing physics that defeats entropy.

That physics is embodied in the elemental energy particle (EEP) with which you are beginning to get familiar. The EEP is the tiny self-contained pulsing quantum energy density fluctuation that makes up the energy density of space and that combines to form all particles and matter that exist and that provides the power source behind all of the energy of the universe. When it comes to defeating entropy, it is the EEP that is behind the “energy to matter to energy” process, the huge energy density fluctuations (the forming and “dissolving” of an arena is a huge energy density fluctuation) that recycle matter and energy in each arena.

The ISU cosmology is built on defining the missing physics of the EEP. In the ISU there is a simple assertion that there will be a discovery of such a unifying particle. The preconditions to the big “bang” are enabled by that missing particle. The preconditions unfold into a greater universe characterized by a pervasive metamorphosis from matter back to energy. This metamorphosis occurs in big crunches that form and burst in an interwoven lattice of regeneration across the greater universe.

This post is an introduction to the role that the EEP plays in each phase of that metamorphosis going on in arenas spread out across the greater universe.

The Role of the EEP throughout the life of an arena

Each arena is only temporary; but then they might exist for ten trillion years forming and “dissolving” back into the greater universe. We think the galaxies in our arena have been forming and separating for 13.7 billion years (the estimated age of our expanding universe) so what is another ten trillion years, almost never relative to the infinite, right?

Matter is prevalent because there has always been a balance between energy and matter across the greater universe.

Gravity working on this matter is the first phase of the life of an arena. Under the attraction of gravity, matter from the greater universe naturally and slowly forms into great attractors that acquire an accretive disk that compels matter to swirl toward their center of gravity forming a big “crunch”.

The second phase occurs because there is a natural critical capacity that each crunch can encompass. We are talking about matter in the form of galaxies, black holes, cosmic dust and even passing photons being accumulated in the crunch. All arenas are essentially the same as to content and length of service because of this “critical capacity”. The characteristics of the EEP determine what constitutes critical capacity. This means that the big crunch that accumulates around the center of gravity in an arena can only get so big before it bursts.

The burst occurs because EEPs get locked in the core of the crunch and can’t pulse. As the locked core grows there is a growing potential energy struggling against the compression of gravity. The locked core is the extreme energy density environment.

The accretion into the crunch continues and as the locked core grows, the potential “burst” energy increases. Interestingly enough, the locked core is no longer “matter” because matter loses its identity even before the EEPs get locked. When matter is compressed at the core of the crunch, it is “negated” and becomes an extremely dense energy environment instead of matter. The distinction between matter and this extremely dense energy is that the locked core does not exert gravity, only matter exerts gravity. The mass of the crunch is being converted to potential burst energy.

Eventually a sufficient amount of matter is negated within the crunch so that the potential burst energy of the locked core exceeds the compression of gravity and the burst occurs.

Please note that when the burst occurs, the critical capacity of the crunch has been reached and the burst becomes a simple matter of the missing physics. Because of critical capacity, all crunches will burst instead of growing endlessly. This is the reason that the entire greater universe does not collapse into a single crunch as is predicted by cosmologies that don’t include the EEP.

The burst marks the release of the near infinitely dense energy environment into the extremely low energy density of space, i.e. into the greater universe surrounding the crunch. The surrounding energy density of space (EDS) is referred to as “extremely low” relative to the extremely high EDS released by the burst. Both environments consist of EEPs. Matter in the arena has been negated except for the residual accretive disk. The disk close to the crunch is already plasma which is negated along with any matter in the vicinity when the burst occurs.

The expansion that occurs in each arena after the release of the near infinitely high energy density is the process of energy density equalization at work. Equalization is the merger of two adjoining energy density environments. Energy in space is continually trying to equalize its density across contiguous space and so our dense ball of freshly unlocked EEPs emerges from the crunch and immediately expands as it merges with the low energy density of the greater universe surrounding the crunch. The energy density of the emergent ball is being diluted by the equalization process as it expands.

The dilution of the energy density continues until the ideal energy density for matter formation is achieved. This is the energy density of space that allows the individual EEPs to sufficiently express their expansion and contraction. Sufficient pulsing results in an energy environment that favors EEP combining.

The combing of EEPs occurs when they become synchronized. Synchronization is achieved when a fully contracted EEP finds itself adjacent to a fully expanded EEP, a condition that can not occur when EEP overlap is too high. Synchronized EEP are merged into the same space, one expanding in that space while one contracts from that space, held together by their tiny individual energy density fluctuations as they pulse in alternate phases. Synchronization causes a migration from chaos to order. As more synchronization occurs, the more orderly becomes the use of space by synchronized EEPs. Space is thus freed up or vacated by the jostling that results in synchronized groupings of EEPs.

Vacated space causes an energy density differential between that empty space and the EEPs that make up the energy density of the surrounding space. In fact empty space is the ultimate energy density differential and EEPs swarm to fill it even at the lowest ranges of EDS. This means that individual EEPs from the background are squeezing into the vacated space which provides the synchronized grouping of EEPs continual access to unsynchronized EEPs and the synchronized group grows as each niche is filled by a willing EEP pressed in by the “weight” of the swarming EEPs.

The proton is the first stable particle that forms from this grouping process. The swarming of the proton continues as it is still surrounded by this zone of vacated space perpetuated as EEPs are taken up into the forming proton.

Once the stable proton exists the swarm surrounding it forms an electron, a concentrated cloud of EEPs still attempting to find a niche in the proton but rejected by the proton and captured in the protons vacated space.

The rejected EEPs overfill the vacated space and are forced to slough off some of the excess energy back into and against the flow of the swarm. The excess energy builds up until the pressure in the swarm exceeds the “weight” of the swarm and a packet of EEPs is forced from the cloud in a discrete packet of EEPs called a photon. The force of the ejection from the electron causes the photon to travel at the speed of light attesting to the huge potential of the energy differential caused by the tiny zone of vacated space surrounding the proton at the instant that it stabilized.

This process of matter formation causes hydrogen to form abundantly and almost simultaneously across the entire expanse making a homogeneous and isotropic environment of hydrogen atoms across the entire expanse.

It is amazing how quickly the energy density of the expanding ball diminishes as matter forms. Logic says the “post matter formation” environment is still a very high energy density environment because only a portion of the EEPs that emerged from the crunch found a niche in the stable proton and its captured electron.

After this abundant matter formation period there is still active energy density equalization occurring between the homogeneous and isotropic hydrogen environment and the surrounding low energy density of the greater universe into which it is expanding.

Gravity has been reintroduced into the environment by the formation of the hydrogen atoms. These atoms are attracted to each other by gravity and they begin a clumping process the quickly leads to the formation of huge fast hot burning hydrogen stars. The stars, because of their huge size are quick to collapse and explode, permeating the environment with their dust.

This heated dust contains the product of fusion, the heavier nuclei that lead to nucleosynthesis and the emergence of heavier slower burning stars and the formation of galaxies composed of stars that are often surrounded by planets.

These galaxies are all moving away from each other as a result of the ongoing expansion. As the energy density slowly becomes equalized with the greater universe, the galaxies, dust and uncombined EEPs from the burst rejoin the greater universe. The arena that formed as long as ten trillion years ago has now dissolved back into the greater universe.

The greater universe has been replenished with useful energy in many forms, an example of the defeat of entropy orchestrated by the tiny EEP.

The Chosen Option

If you think of the greater universe as having high enough energy density of space to require matter to exist, and if all of the indestructible EEPs have always existed, then there has always been a balance between matter and energy. But in the ISU, the matter that exists is always being recycled as you will see in an upcoming post about defeating entropy. Right now we are going to make a choice between three possible options that could describe our universe based on the fact that it is expanding.

First let us take a look at the universe around us. If you look at our expanding universe you know that something is going on to cause the matter in our immediate viewing arena to be separating; i.e. observation tells us that the galaxies are all moving away from each other.

For the first option, is it practical to consider that expansion is typical of the entire universe? If so would it be a one time circumstance that can be backtracked for a finite period of time to an extremely dense initial state that has no explanation as to origin other than an implied Big Bang? That is one of our choices and that is where we are when we consider Big Bang Theory (BBT). BBT allows for the expansion to either continue forever, to slow and stop in place, or to reverse and contract.

The second option is related to the “reverse and contract” possibility of BBT. Is it practical to view our BBT universe as an endless cycle of expansion and contraction entirely self contained such as a perpetually cyclical big bang, big crunch universe?

And our third option; is it practical to view expansion as part of a greater universe where preconditions could account for the extremely dense origin of the expansion?

These are three of the many possible circumstances of our cosmology and all three require some undiscovered or missing physics in order to be understood. Beyond those three possible circumstances there are many other possibilities but each becomes more needful of more undiscovered physics.

If we limit our immediate thinking to those three, how do we decide which one is the most likely? I decided by considering entropy, the process of continually consuming useful energy until equilibrium is reached that leaves no useful energy at all. BBT is considered to end in complete entropy where life can no longer exist.

Since entropy is not yet complete there are two possible circumstances that are foretold by that observation. One is that it is not yet complete but will be, and the other is that there is something in the missing physics that says entropy is being defeated.

We have the slimmest of evidence to work with. The only evidence we have to go on is that entropy, if it will ever occur, will occur in a finite timeframe.

That brings us to consider time. Do we think time has always existed or do we think time must have had a beginning?

If time is finite then there must have been a beginning.

That brings us back to the same circumstance discussed above about the first of the three circumstances of our expanding universe, i.e. there was a beginning that can’t be explained as to origin or cause, but that can be backtracked over a finite period of time to when the initial expansion probably began.

If time is infinite on the other hand then the universe could have always existed.

Since entropy has not occurred, and since it would take a finite period of time for it to have occurred, then we are either in the finite window of time that it would take to occur, or it will not occur due to something in the undiscovered physics.

We have reached the point where we cannot know. This is the point where responsible speculation is the only avenue left to follow.

I choose to consider it more rational to speculate that entropy will not occur because there is something in the missing physics that defeats entropy. Otherwise either we are in the finite time window in which entropy will occur, or entropy would have already occurred. I am comparing my view of the probabilities and choose that if entropy was going to occur, what are the chances we are in the finite window of time? If there is something that defeats entropy in the missing physics I think it is responsible to speculate that time has always existed, that entropy has always been defeated by physics, and that the universe has always existed. This does not require us to be in any finite window of time.

Thus I eliminate the first possibility, “a one time circumstance that can be backtracked for a finite period of time to an extremely dense initial state that has no explanation as to origin other than an implied Big Bang.”

So that leaves me to decide between the second option, “is it practical to view our BBT universe as an endless cycle of expansion and contraction entirely self contained such as a perpetually cyclical big bang, big crunch universe”, or thirdly, “is it practical to view expansion as part of a greater universe where preconditions could account for the extremely dense origin of the expansion?

I quickly conclude that the second option, a cyclical big bang, big crunch universe would have one special problem that the third option would not have. That is entropy of a different kind. It has to do with the perfect balance that would be necessary in order for the cycles to be infinite. Without that perfect balance each crunch would not pull back in all of the energy released by the previous bang, so the next bang would be composed of slightly less energy than the previous bang, and eventually there wouldn’t be enough energy pulled back by the crunch to cause the next bang. Then the universe ends in that last feeble big crunch, unable to bang again.

On this basis I eliminate the second option leaving me with a cosmology based on the third option, “is it practical to view that expansion as part of a greater universe where preconditions could account for the extremely dense origin of the expansion.”

This is the option that can be developed into the Infinite Spongy Universe cosmology. Saying yes to the third option says that the missing physics, a fact of life for all three options, will include physics that will defeat entropy which cannot be defeated by the first two options.

Please comment about if this post was readable, understandable, meaningful or not to you.

The Energy Density of Space

We must always keep the following in mind when talking about the ISU and the EEP.

It is not practical to think of a universe containing one EEP, but if there was just one, would it expand forever as its tiny quantum amount of energy spread thinner and thinner or would it simply expand and contract by itself in empty space?

I think it would be the latter. If so would each expansion be fulfilling some finite relationship as to full expansion and each contraction reaching some limit as to its own internal density? I think so, and I think that the full expansion and full contraction would have specific limits and would define the space that one EEP could occupy if allowed to fully expand and contract. If so we could assign a constant to the fully expanded size and a constant to the fully contracted size, and assign a function to the pulsing by using a time factor for each full pulse cycle.

It is not practical to think of a universe containing so many EEPs that they could not expand at all. They would be locked in their contracted state and could never have enough space to expand. Even if while in the locked state they had potential to expand they would have no space to expand in. The value of that potential would eventually be derived from the math of the pulsing EEP if it could be quantified, and I think it can be.

Each of the above two cases is an extreme of energy density. One EEP expanding and contracting may only need a tiny amount of empty space to exist and fully pulse representing the lowest possible energy density, while a universe of fully locked EEPs that could not expand at all would have the highest possible energy density.

Energy density of space is the number of EEPs divided by the volume of space that they occupy.

Lets us explore the energy density possibilities that are between those two extremes.

Let us take first a “low energy density environment” where all of the EEPs can fully expand and contract in their own space, there is even room to add more EEPs before you begin to get some overlap. And let us define the term overlap to simply mean that there are too many EEPs in a given space to allow them all to fully expand and contract with intruding on each others required allotment of space. In this low energy density environment there is no overlap.

Let us take next a perfectly “equalized energy density environment” where all of the EEPs can fully expand and contract in their own space, but if you add one more EEP there will begin to be some overlap. This energy density of space (EDS), with complete freedom for each EEP, and yet with the maximum EEPs allowed without overlap we will call the equalized energy density. This is the perfect EDS for an EEP that likes companionship but wants its own space; the perfectly equalized energy density of space.

Not only is this perfect for the comfort loving EEPs, this is the energy density that space seeks to achieve. It is the perfect background. Now don’t take me literally, I am not suggesting that EEPs or space have a mind of their own; I am speaking figuratively. The perfect background is the energy density that allows this perfect relationship between all EEPs and the space that they occupy.

Next let us take an energy density of space that has too many EEPs to allow them each to fully expand and contract in their own sufficient space, but that does not cause them all to be locked so that they can never expand at all. They are only compressed to some degree and go on pulsing with only minor inconvenience.

Just to define that landscape in the most general parameters, this would be termed a high energy density of space that causes there to be some degree of compression at all times. The term compression means that none of the EEPs can fully expand, and before they can fully contract their space is intruded upon by an adjacent EEP and they can never fully contract without intrusion. They are slightly compressed.

Up to this point we have discussed five different energy densities of space: One EEP alone in space, so many EEPs that they can only exist if they are locked in their contracted position, a low energy density environment, the ideal energy density of space, and a moderately high energy density of space.

I think the universe, the greater universe in the ISU, has a high energy density on that scale. And I think that the universe has always existed and has always had this high energy density. High energy density forces matter to exist. The proportion of matter to energy density of space is determined by how high the average energy density of the greater universe is.

The matter that exists is made up of the excess EEPs over and above the ideal background of perfectly "equalized energy density" described above.

It is inescapable that reasoned and responsible speculation about pre-conditions to the big bang takes place. I am conducting such a process when I talk about the Infinite Spongy Universe (ISU). To some, a little speculation is just as bad as speculation about little green men. The ISU presentation is reasoned and responsible speculation about what the universe could be like if it was composed solely of infinitesimal indestructible elementary energy particles that have always existed.

In BBT there was hot, high energy plasma sometimes referred to as a “soup” of matter and energy that expanded from some unmentioned but implied extremely dense origin, a singularity. BBT uses the plasma as the source of “matter”, i.e. in BBT matter comes from the plasma. In the ISU which is composed only of unifying energy particles, matter forms from those energy particles when the ideal energy density is reached and is negated back to unifying particles when energy density gets too high for matter to exist. The negation of matter back into elementary energy particles (EEPs) in the crunch marks the beginning of a huge energy density fluctuation that is equivalent to the Big Bang in BBT.

The nature of the unifying particle that makes up the energy density of space in the ISU is not fully appreciated in BBT. The ISU predicts the existence of a greater universe within which the event that is equivalent to BBT’s big bang occurs, i.e. there is a “before and beyond” the big bang, and the EEP provides the transition from "before" to now.

Some, if not most professionals say we have a perfectly good working theory to account for time and matter from the instant after the big event until now, but glaring in their absence are the source and cause of the big bang, the cause of gravity, the cause of galactic structure, and the cause of accelerating expansion. In addition, the best end result in BBT is complete entropy, a one time event that just hasn’t happened yet, and never will in the ISU. In the ISU, the EEP solves all of the shortcomings of BBT.

The ISU also predicts that there will be a discovery of this unifying particle that connects all forces and that reveals the Grand Unification Theory. The ISU is a bottom up approach to understanding the universe composed entirely of those unifying particles. We start with the EEP as the unifying particle that I described in my first blog entry.

This is not the beginning. There was no beginning for that matter. Oh, there are times and places that seem like beginnings of sorts, I mean cataclysmic events of great magnitude. But then what is great magnitude if it is short of being universal?

Anything finite is almost nothing, almost nowhere, almost never … relative to the infinite.

So if you talk to me about something less than infinite you are not talking about the highest order of things, for the infinite represents the highest order of things. And I am being honest when I say that when we are talking about the infinite I feel good.

Talk to me about space and I am happy for I know that space is infinite.

Talk to me about the infinitesimal and I am happy because I know that the most infinitesimal would have to be that of which all else is composed.

I feel good too about the thought that for everything to be composed of the infinitesimal, the infinitesimal would then be infinitely disbursed throughout all space.

And talk to me about perpetual energy that replenishes all that is consumed; a grand process that plays out everywhere forever and that encompasses all things in all places in an ever changing cascade of perpetual renewal. It is good to hear about that.

And talk to me about time and I am happy too, because I know there always is, always was, and always will be time. We are always at mid time, right in the middle of all that has been and all that will be; the middle of infinity.

I am happy with the highest order, the greater universe that is this infinite space filled infinitely with the quintessential infinitesimal elemental energy that perpetuates continual renewal of energy and matter in a process that is present in all places at all times.

I am happy if all of this is true and for this to be true there has to be a quintessential infinitesimal elemental energy particle. Let’s call it the elementary energy particle or EEP for short, OK?

The EEP is at the heart of my personal cosmology, The Infinite Spongy Universe cosmology.

The EEP forms the perfect background of the universe by occupying all space.

Space is infinite and the greater universe encompasses all space.

All space contains EEPs.

The universe is composed of only EEPs.

EEPs are indestructible and have always existed.

The number of EEPs in any volume of space makes up the energy density of that space.

The energy density of a volume of space can fluctuate.

Matter is composed of EEPs and forms from the energy density of space at the right time and at the right place.

The universe on the highest order and the grandest scale is the greater universe in my cosmology. And it consists of a potentially infinite number of temporary arenas, huge energy density fluctuations that form and disburse. Each arena consists of matter that collapses from the greater universe into a big crunch which “negates” matter, then bursts into a ball of near infinite energy density which expands and reforms matter that flows back into the greater universe.

I view our own expanding universe to be an arena in the process of playing out right now in our own little niche somewhere among an infinite number of such niches within the greater universe.

And I think that the entire universe consists of infinitesimal particles with perpetual energy derived from their own contraction and expansion, a pulse that provides the power behind all energy in the universe and that makes up the energy density of space.

So “spongy” seems a fitting adjective for the greater universe from the infinitesimal to the infinite. Welcome to the Infinite Spongy Universe!
