Student Please tell us; what are the tools and skills that a body and mind need to bear fruits of good and joy?
Shantnu Body needs senses which are optimally charged with positive tendencies and transmit only finer sensitivities to the mind. Similarly mind too is required to be equipped with the mental assets, the values of life. These values become normal values, when these are bereft of selfishness and utilized for the benefit of humanity at large.
Student Sir, what are the outer indications, by which we may judge a person's tools of goodness, mental assets and moral-values?
Shantnu Good and bad are the body's sports, therefore, are evident by outer demeanor. A person who is soft-spoken not harsh but always helpful to others, who hears, sees, smells good, supports good behavior, is honest and sincere in his dealings with others. Above all, he performs his duties very diligently and is a disciplined citizen, is known as good person.
As all of these actions (intentions) take their roots from the mind of a person, he must therefore, have the matching convictions (will) about their performance, that his actions and thinking should have absolutely no difference. Good 'karma' (actions), sincerity, honestly, helpful attitude, munificence; hatred, envy, zealously towards none, are the main characteristics (mental assets) of a righteous person. And while dispensing these qualities, if a person laces them with affection, kindness, sacrifice, compassion and love, these very values become moral values.
Student Does it indicate intellect is bereft of moral based values?
Shantnu Mere scholarship, minus of moral values is shallow intellect, which is not only incomplete, immature in itself, but is prone to delusions.
Student But, Sir, pure intelligence had brought wonders in science and technology in the life of human kind, so how is it prone to delusions?
Shantnu First you must understand the difference between pure-intellect and scholarship and, secondly what causes these delusions? Mere scholarship means the knowledge of the sciences relating to material aspects of nature, whereas pure-intellect is the science that unites the individual conscious to the universal conscious (ness). Scholarship or mere intellect is trying to unravel the mysteries of the creation of the universe, whereas pure-intellect leads you to Reality that Creates the Universe.
Student We still don't understand about the factors which differentiate between the two and what are the missing links which lags the intellect behind and leaves it as incomplete, immature and susceptible to delusions.
Shantnu Unraveling the mysteries of Nature and inventing its duplicates is the birth right and nature of man. But utilizing these inventions for their own annihilation is the result of negative human aspect which is bereft of moral values.
Student Are not human values enough to check our degeneration?
Shantnu Because human values differ from person to person and from one community to another without moral values attached to them, these are not value based but are interest based. And any clever scholar would justify his actions however nefarious these might be.
Student It indicates that righteousness is a relative term!
Shantnu If it is minus the moral values!
Student How a righteous action becomes immoral, please explain?
