ls workshop) Quest In Reality……….85
ShantnuScientific inventions are for the betterment of human race, but when these are used for the destruction of that very race, they become immoral acts. This immorality is not present in these inventions but lies in their applications which are in the hands of a few members of the society, who profess themselves as self-proclaimed leaders/dictators. Similarly, intellect, acumen of scholarship is imposed on the societies on the pretext of improving the living standard of its people or for the better growth of their mental abilities or for bringing about unity (superficial) among them. Some pervert brains can play havoc on the societies by misusing the fruits of the scientific inventions, intellectual excellence, in the field of biology, physics, chemistry, sociology, economy, psychology, or other applied sciences. Whereas genius endeavors are for the advancement of knowledge, scholars interpret it according to their self interest and apply it on society, treating it as experimental field.
Thus evil genius or its evil application does have destructive effects on the society.
Student Then what are its checks, Sir?
Shantnu Scholarship should be value based.
Student And how that is possible, Sir?
Shantnu By transforming those values into moral values!
Student Sir, what is the one word, definition of morality?
Shantnu Character. As positive actions discharged through the controlled senses, labels a man, as good; value based intellect brands the thinking of a person, as right; similarly the essence of the sum-total of goodness and values, shows the character of an individual.
Student Thus character is the composite of moral-values.
Shantnu Yes.
Student Sir, do moral values too change from person to person, as values do?
Shantnu Positive tendencies and sense of righteousness do not change, as these already exist in a person. It is only his self-interest that seems to distort them momentarily and negative tendencies take root.
Student Sir, sorry for interruption, but we want to understand more about intelligence...
Shantnu It is the mental ability to perceive, acquire, disseminate data and information, relating to Nature and its elements and create a bank of knowledge, with whose application mankind advances further in its journey of evolution.
Student Does intelligence has any role to play in the process of evolution?
Shantnu Man would not be able to improve his conditions, had there not been the application of his intelligence.
Student But man monitors those conditions now by manipulating the very structure of his genes.
Shantnu It is again because of his intelligence that he can bring about those changes because his intelligence is equipped with the tools of power of reasoning, logic, differentiation, adoptability and improvisation. He does not undertake his experiments or research, for the improvement of his conditions, merely on impulse, but he is impelled to bring about these changes by the messages coming to him, in inheritance, through the genes. If, now he wants structural changes in genes, it is because of some maladjustment or difficulties, felt by his forefathers, whose remedial measures they could not invent during their times, which are now being carried out by their inheritors.
Now about your query regarding the role of intelligence in the process of evolution it is thus evident that with the phenomenal advancement in the intelligence of man, he brings about his evolvement at a brisk rate, that he may complete the journey of his evolution, much earlier than the evolution of Nature.
Student If we understand correctly, Sir, do you mean there is distinction between man and Nature and their course of evolution are also not parallel?
Shantnu Man though is the product of Nature, but he is also endowed with its unique pervasiveness of intelligence. Inherited with this unique tool, he is therefore, automatically equipped to bring his intelligence at par with Nature. When his intelligence equals (merges) to that of Nature's (intelligence) his intelligence (conscious) is transformed into Supreme-intelligence. It is a wonderful experience as he has been able to achieve this stateless state, while still retaining his physical form because the sum total of Nature's intelligence is not contained in its material bodies (stars, planets etc.) but is pervading in the invisible (subtle) particles. Encompassing therefore, supreme-intelligence of Nature, his tiny intelligence becomes all pervading and he is doubly equipped. He thus becomes the only entity of Nature, who, while in gross physical body, is also endowed with the subtle intelligence. This unique mixture enables him to look beyond; for a physical entity, though endowed with supreme intelligence, there is always a step beyond.
Student Kindly tell us, what is that beyond? Is there any difference between supreme-intelligence and Reality?
Shantnu Here we stop, because we have already gone quite away from our topic of discussion. For your present query, suffice is to say, Nature's existence, pervades in its integrated (supreme) - intelligence, whereas the cause of its creation is Reality?
Student Any difference between Supreme intelligence and Supra-consciousness?
Shantnu They are two facets of Nature, the one is Existence and the other is the power that connotes its existence. Two faces of one entity, thus one.
Student Coming back to our original topic; does nature which is inert, has the attributes of conscience, like human beings?
Shantnu Both are as inert and lifeless as an entity is, without consciousness. If consciousness is withdrawn from them, both become inert and consequently their lower state, is aptly known as gross (consciousness). So whatever exists is consciousness and therefore, has all the attributes, qualities and states of consciousness that a living entity has. That means the conscience of Nature and human kind is synonymous.
Student Before pursuing our quest any further, please explain in brief the difference between intellect and conscience.
Shantnu Mere (dry) scholarship and intellect is like a machine robot or computer discharging their functions in accordance with the data fed in them. They have no will or sense of discrimination of their own.
Student Why 'mere or dry' words are prefixed?
Shantnu Because any mind (person) bereft of such qualities, as, sympathy, affection, sacrifice, mercy, compassion, kindness and love, which are the components of conscience, is possessed of a 'dry' intellect/scholarship, hence an emotionless machine not a pulsating heart (mind) of a man full of love and compassion.
Student Kind Sir, does our instinct has any role in the development of our moral values?
Shantnu These (instincts) have a definite and positive role in the unfold ness of our conscience by activating their components.
