Student Dada, what is wrong with material, science and rationality?
Shantnu Nothing, my dears, except their superficial demarcation with conscience, spiritually and Reality.
Student But they are complementary to each other's advancement.
Dada, does Reality also has a scope for further improvement (advancement)?
Shantnu Encased in physical bodies, it passes through different levels and it changes its nomenclature, gross (conscious) mind, intellect, sense of discrimination and wisdom and finally the reality itself.
Student What are those factors Dada, which make its (mind) journey smooth from gross-conscious level of Reality?
Shantnu Conscience.
Student So conscience is the vital link between the mind and Reality, Dada.
Shantnu It is not a link but a distiller's dye that brings about changes in the thinking process of the mind and induces it to peace (white) and ultimately to Reality.
Student Dada, is mind distinct from Reality?
Shantnu We should not have brought this point at this level of discussion, still it is alright to say, there is absolutely no difference between the two, though it is the lowest aspect of Reality.
Student Which are the upper ones Dada?
Shantnu Wisdom and Itself.
Student Dada, does conscience improve knowledge?
Shantnu Its function is to refine and stabilize (maintain balance). It converts gross sounds (gross knowledge) into symphonies of sublime music (wisdom) of knowledge.
Student Does it require a total change of one's vocabulary, Dada?
Shantnu Not only change in vocabulary, behavior and thoughts but a clean sweep of personality takes place. One's entire outlook is changed. Though outwardly one remains a scholar, a scientist, a professor or a factory worker but inwardly he is a changed - a better person! Whereas previously he was a good/better/best worker, now he becomes a righteous/moral/virtuous worker. Though he is still discharging the same duty but his motives have changed from a machine-like mind, he becomes a dispenser of virtue. Previously he was doing work for his self or family's sustenance but now he is engaged in the welfare of others, besides his family. His motives have changed from self to over-Self.
Student Dada, persons endowed with scholarship or temporal powers but devoid of conscience, do they serve humanity too?
Shantnu Any person, I repeat, any person, however high his achievements may be is incapable to neglect his-self and do service onto others. Only those who have annihilated their self can serve other (self’s). Self-serving and sharing with others are two contrary aspects of an individual whose fusion is possible if individual self is eliminated and is replaced by other selves.
Student Is it necessary to ignore ourselves and serve only others, Dada?
Shantnu No. It is not necessary. The attitude should be to serve yourself and others as well.
Student And to bring change in our attitude, element of conscience is necessary. Is that clear Dada?
Shantnu Absolutely my dears.
Student Dada, conscience does not seem to be an effective tool in clearing out the irrelevant data from our minds, as even after the distilling of the mind, by conscience, still its (mind) fruits are assessed as moral and immoral. Negative aspect of mind still persists.
Shantnu It would persist till the distinction of separateness in not absolved.
Student Can a religion do it, Dada?
Shantnu No. Religions would only create further divisions.
Student Then, Dada, what would obliterate the distinction of positive/ negative aspect of nature and life, and present only their singular nature?
Shantnu Only Religion can do that.
Student But you had told us, religions are the cause for the basic split of an individual from Nature and Existence (life). Please explain, Dada.
Shantnu There is only one Religion that belongs to the entire humanity and it is the religion of love. It is above the sectarian religions; those profess distinction from Reality and create division among nations and societies.
Student Dada what is so special about love that it has been placed at the highest pedestal i.e. equaling it to reality?
Shantnu Truth, righteousness, peace, and non-violence are the qualities imbibed only in the human beings, but love is the only common attribute found in all the living beings i.e. from an ant to elephant and from human to beasts, hence it is a universal entity, whose other synonym is religion, which again is universal in nature.
Student Now back to our topic: Dada, can't we remove the irritants from those religions which cause divisions?
Shantnu Of course, remove the symbols of identity from each religion.
Student Dada, what are those symbols?
Shantnu Rites, rituals, and customs.
Student Dada, in that case, the special identity of each religion would be lost and all religions would look alike. If there is no distinction amongst religions, there would not be separate houses (temples) for Gods! It is a wonderful dream Dada. Would it ever become a reality?
Shantnu Why not. Tell me what creates divisions?
Student Mind, Dada.
Shantnu What shall absolve these divisions?
